My background
My name is Dan Andrews and I am running as a 2026 Democratic Candidate in Nevada for the State Assembly District 13.
I have been a resident of Las Vegas for 19 years.
I recently retired from teaching with Clark County School System assigned to educate young felons in the prison system. A rewarding but also a challenging position for an educator.
I was a teacher for approximately 25 years, primarily teaching all different levels of mathematics at the high school and community college level.
For 15 years previously I was an orbital analyst contracted with NASA to work on the Space Shuttle spacecraft as well as the Hubble Space Telescope. I was involved with real-time support of spacecraft where decisions were made quickly and accurately.
My involvement
- Currently serving as Treasurer of the Centennial Hills Democratic Club.
- I have experience in small city management where I was elected city council member in College Park, Maryland, a city of approximately 25 thousand people. At this job I assisted running a small city and the infrastructure required. I assisted in having the second archives established in the city where President Richard Nixon tapes and Presidential material are housed.
- I have completed four marathons, so I am very aware of the persistence it takes to complete projects in office as well as completing 26.2 miles of a marathon.
